Ending The Stigma: Let’s Talk About Men’s Mental Health

On 19th November, we commemorate International Men’s Day. This is as relevant a time as ever to talk about a topic that is still seen by many as a taboo: men’s mental health. We know that at any one time, 12.5% of men report having a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety disorders. By talking about and raising awareness to mental health struggles that men face, we hope to be dismantling some taboos and preconceptions associated with stereotypical views of masculinity, and help improve and even save lives in the process.

Take Action: Protect your Mental Health from I&D Burnout

If you work in the Inclusion and Diversity space, you are probably aware of how easy it is to burn out in this line of work. Whether its due to budget constraints, lack of buy in from leadership, lack of capacity and resources, giving too much of yourself or all of these things and more, it can be all too easy to suddenly find yourself burned out and struggling with your mental health.

In this sector, we need to be really mindful to set boundaries and self care. As the old saying goes ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’. We can only make change and impact for others when we are taking care of ourselves first. This means that we can’t always get all the things we want done at once, or taking smaller steps to achieve bigger goals, and that’s okay.

Around 15% of the world’s population consider themselves disabled and yet how well-equipped are our services in supporting disabled customers? In the UK, 1 in 5 people have a disability, up to 80% of which have are non-visible. Around 14 million people in the UK live with some form of disability, so the likelihood is that you know at least one person living with a non-visible disability, whether you are aware or not. This webinar will focus on how we can support customers with visible and non-visible disabilities and ensure our services are equipped to meet the needs of everyone using them.
